Tourism in Sicily: history, castles and legends

The castle of Punta Troia, Marettimo (Egadi Islands) was built around 827. Before being a castle in 1140 under the rule of Ruggero 2th, was a sighting tower. During the French Revolution it was a prison and during the Second World War was a telegraphic station (now you can see the telegraph pole). At the end of the war the castle was abandoned.

Palazzolo Acreide is an amazing city near Syracuse. The principal churches are St. Paul and St. Sebastian, declared humanity’s patrimony by Unesco.
