The castle of Punta Troia, Marettimo (Egadi Islands) was built around 827. Before being a castle in 1140 under the rule of Ruggero 2th, was a sighting tower. During the French Revolution it was a prison and during the Second World War was a telegraphic station (now you can see the telegraph pole). At the end of the war the castle was abandoned.
Around 1980 the castle has been restored and have been found cannonballs and human skeletons.
The castle of Punta Troia is in Marettimo, Egadi Islands, and can be reached by a small path.
In the castle there is a strange mystery. Many people reported seeing ghosts or heard their cry. There were once two sisters who loved the prince of the castle. One of two women killed her sister out of jealousy. The prince, then, killed the wicked woman and committed suicide. Today their souls wander into the castle and you can see or hear their cry.
