In front of Milazzo there is a volcanic archipelago with 7 islands very beautiful: Aeolian islands.
The biggest island is Lipari. The other are Vulcano and Stromboli, an active volcano with black beaches and marvellous sea.
Alicudi, Filicudi e Panarea are the smallest, Salina is famous thanks to Massimo Troisi’s film Il postino (The postman).
Other famous films are Stromboli (Roberto Rossellini), Vulcano (William Mieterle), L’avventura (Michelangelo Anonioni), Kaos (Taviani brothers) and Caro diario (Nanni Moretti).
